Using Gallery View

Gallery View is a one-page, four-chart summary of the short, medium, and long-term view for any stock, index or mutual fund in our database. It only requires you to enter a ticker, and the charts are automatically generated with pre-determined durations and overlays. The four charts are as follows:

Short-Term: An Intraday chart shows recent market action and the major moving averages.
Medium-Term: A Daily View gives you a larger chart with daily candlesticks and two important indicators.
Long-Term: A Weekly View provides the longer term perspective that is often necessary in today's market.
Point and Figure: A view of pure price movement that has no set duration. P&F charts are great for observing active market activity, and as such are very helpful in identifying support/resistance lines, buy/sell signals, and trendlines.

When you want a quick idea of how a security has performed either today or over the past two years, the gallery view is the perfect tool. This view is great for in-depth analysis of a single ticker symbol's performance and potential for all types of traders. It is easy to read, and offers different levels of analysis with important indicators to help to determine significant price movements.

Members can customize their GalleryView charts with any settings/indicators/overlays that they want!  It is done via three specially named ChartStyles: "GalleryIntraday", "GalleryDaily" and "GalleryWeekly". To learn more refer to this blog article.

To change the way that the Daily chart on the GalleryView page looks, follow these steps:

1. Login to your account and go to the SharpCharts Workbench and create a chart using daily bars that looks exactly like you want your Daily GalleryView charts to look like.  The symbol that you use doesn't matter, just make sure the other settings are all like you want and the chart looks correct.
2. Click on the "+" icon located to the left of the chart so that you can save your chart settings as a ChartStyle.
3. Enter the name "GalleryDaily" in the "ChartStyle Description" box that appears and then click the "Add New" button to save the style into your account.

The first step in creating a gallery is to know the ticker symbol of the stock or index you are interested in. Each stock has a unique symbol, often recognizable by the company name (eg. Microsoft is "msft"). Others are not so obvious, but any active stock can be found in our symbol catalog which can always be accessed by clicking on the link in the  Start to Chart box or in the Create a Chart ticker box across the middle of almost every page.

With the ticker symbol in mind, there are a few different methods of quickly creating your gallery:

• Next to the symbol catalog link in the Start to Chart box, a gallery can be easily created by entering the ticker, selecting Gallery View, and clicking On the Homepage you can select Gallery View from the drop-down in the Start a Chart box.

• From the Free Charts page you can also go to the Gallery Charts box and enter in your ticker symbol and hit Go.

• Finally, whenever you see the Gallery icon next to a ticker symbol, you can click on it to create a gallery for that ticker.

Intraday View gives you a SharpChart covering four days of data, with 10 minute candlesticks, a full quote, price labels, volume bars, and two moving average indicators. These our the default settings.

Daily View gives you a larger chart with daily candlesticks, price labels, volume bars, and two indicators. The Chaikin Money Flow is charted below and the Percentage Price Oscillator is charted above to assist technical analysis. These are the default settings for daily view.

Weekly View provides the longer term perspective that is often necessary in today's market. These charts feature weekly candlesticks, price labels, volume bars, and two indicators. The Price Relative to the S&P 500 is charted below and the Percentage Price Oscillator is charted above to assist technical analysis. These are the default settings for the weekly view.

Click on the chart to view and modify it as a regular SharpChart. (For more information on working with SharpCharts, read our SharpCharts help page).

Point and Figure charts are great for spotting trends, support/resistance levels, and buy/sell signals. It is always a good idea to include a point and figure chart in your analysis.

These charts include a stock bar showing the company name, ticker symbol, the exchange it's traded on, the date, and open/high/low/close/volume/price change statistics. It also shows the price objective for the chart, the style and reversal value, along with any recognized P&F Pattern.

Trend lines are also drawn in, along with a volume histogram below the chart.

Underneath the last chart is an Action Bar, from which you can select another chart for the same ticker symbol.

These same three chart icons are also available at the top of the Gallery View Results Page.

As a member, you can create a Gallery View (called a GalleryBook) for all the stocks in any of your ChartLists. There are two ways to view your GalleryBook:

From your Extra or PRO page in the Members tab, scroll down to the Your ChartList section and click on the Gallery link for the list you want to use.

From inside any Favorites List, use the Format drop-down menu at the top of the page and select GalleryBook. Basic members need to use this option.
