Using Your StockCharts Account

In this page, we will cover all the basics of how to maintaining your StockCharts account, including everything from logging in to manage your subscription levels.

Read on to learn how to get the most out of your StockCharts account.

Your User ID and Password

Once your StockCharts account has been created, you will need to log in in order to begin using it. To do so, you need two pieces of information - your User ID and your password. Both of those items should have been sent to you via email immediately after you completed the sign-up process. If you did not receive that email, please contact our Support staff via the “Contact Our Support Team” button on the right side of this page.

Your initial password can be changed to a new password of your choosing. The password must be between 7 and 20 characters in length. It may contain letters, numbers, and/or hyphens.

About Account Security

While we take every precaution to keep the information stored on our servers private, we cannot guarantee that information stored on our website is 100% secure. As a charting service, we strongly recommend that highly valuable information like trading account numbers and passwords should NOT be stored on our website. In addition, we strongly recommend that members not re-use important passwords as their StockCharts password.

Logging In and Logging Out

Logging In

To log in to your account, click on the “Log In” link in the upper right corner of any of our web pages. You will then be prompted to enter your User ID and password.

On the login page, you have the option to check a checkbox labeled “Log Me In Automatically Next Time”. If you do so, we will save your User ID and Password in special “cookies,” which are stored on your computer by your web browser. Then, the next time you visit StockCharts with that same browser, those cookies will be used to automatically log you in.

If your login attempt is successful, you will then see Your Dashboard, which gives you full access to all of our charting and analysis tools.

If you cannot remember your password, you can use our Password Retrieval Page and we will send it to you in an email. If you're still having trouble getting logged in, check out our Login Troubleshooting Guide for more suggestions.

Logging Out

To log out from your account, click your name or the person icon in the upper right corner of any web page, then choose “Log Out” in the dropdown menu. Logging out is not necessary if you are using a computer that can only be accessed by you, but it is recommended if you are using a shared computer, such as those in a public library.

Note: If you log out manually by clicking the “Log Out” link, the “Log Me In Automatically” cookies are erased.

Managing Your Subscription

Subscriptions to StockCharts.com are valid for a given period of time, based on the amount of time you have paid for. The expiration date for your subscription is displayed on the Your Account page.

Automatic Renewal

Automatic Renewal ensures that your account will always be available and that your charts and settings will never be deleted.

By default, your account is configured for automatic renewal. When the account is about to expire, we automatically renew the account for the same duration and same service level as the last time the account was renewed. Several days before we auto-renew an annual renewal account, we send out an email reminder explaining what will happen.

Your Automatic Renewal settings can be changed at any time by visiting the Your Account page and clicking on the “Change” link next to Renewal Cycle in the “Membership Details” section. You can choose Monthly Renewal or Annual Renewal. Click the “Submit Changes” button to complete the process.

Note: If you do not want your subscription to be automatically renewed on the expiration date, click the “Cancel Accoun” button at the bottom of the “Membership Details” section. Your subscription will not be automatically renewed; your account will be canceled on your expiration date.

Members can upgrade their current service level at any time on the Your Account page. Just click on the “Change” link next to your Service Level in the “Membership Details” section. Then click the “Upgrade” button for the appropriate service level and click “Continue” in order to complete your desired change.

During the 1-month free trial period at the start of a new subscription, members can upgrade (or downgrade) their account for free.

We charge a fee for upgrading an existing account. The fee is essentially equal to the prorated difference in cost between the original service level and the new service level. The exact cost of the upgrade is displayed after the “Upgrade” button is pressed.

Downgrading Your Service Level

Members can downgrade their current service level at any time on the Your Account page. Simply click on the “Change” link next to your Service Level in the “Membership Details” section. Then click the “Downgrade” button for the appropriate service level, and click “Continue” in order to change your service level.

Note: If you downgrade to our Basic service level, you will be prompted for the name of the ChartList which you wish to use as your single Basic ChartList. Make sure that all of the charts you wish to keep are stored in the ChartList you select before completing the downgrade process. Charts stored in other ChartLists will be deleted once the downgrade is complete.

Step-by-Step Instructions: Cancelling Your Account

Reactivating an Expired Account

If your account expires before you are able to renew it, you will have 30 days to reactivate your account before we remove your saved charts, scans, and settings from our system. To reactivate an expired account, attempt to log in to the site as usual. You will see a message that your account has expired, with a link to a page where you can reactivate your account. Click the link, then follow the instructions to complete the reactivation process.

Billing Policies and Procedures

Currently, we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover credit cards, as well as PayPal, Venmo, and direct deposit via ACH. We are only able to accept online payments at this time.

Your credit card or other payment method will be charged at the end of each billing period. For monthly renewal plans, you will be charged each month for your service plan fees (Basic/Extra/Pro). For annual renewal plans, you will be charged once a year for your service plan fees.

If you subscribe to any real-time data plans, they will always be billed monthly, even if your service plan is set up for annual renewal. Data plans are billed separately from service plans, so data plan fees will always show up on your credit card statement as a separate charge. This means that monthly service plan subscribers will see two charges on their statement each month; one for the service plan fees and another for the data plan fees. Annual service plan subscribers will see one charge per year for the service plan fees, plus one charge per month for the data plan fees.

Unless canceled, both service plans and data plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period. If canceled, annual service plans may be eligible for a refund of any unused whole months of service. Monthly service plan charges and all data plan charges are nonrefundable. Please see our Refund Policy for more information.

Viewing Previous Transactions

You can view and print invoices for previous transactions from the Your Account page. Simply click on the “See Transaction History” button in the “Account Details” section to see a list of your previous transactions.

Click the “Get Invoice” button to view the invoice for a particular order. To generate a combined invoice for multiple transactions, select a start and end date range below the list of transactions, then click the “Generate Invoice” button.

If you would like to print the invoice after it has been created, click the “Print Invoice” button on the invoice page.
